All-Russian competition for the best carpet design "Spirit of Tatarstan" has been announced
The Persepol carpet studio together with the Kazan Tourism Development Committee with information support of the international magazine CARPET: Carpets as Art and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan announce a competition for the best carpet design reflecting the cultural and historical roots and traditions of Tatarstan.
The organizers of the competition invite people of creative professions to participate, regardless of where they live. Original ideas for carpet design on the theme “Spirit of Tatarstan” are accepted; it can be either a bias towards traditional Tatar art, touching on historical roots, or a modern interpretation of the Tatar heritage.
The winning design concept will be implemented at the carpet manufactory of Iranian Tabriz, the sister city of Kazan, with the assistance of the Persepol Carpet Studio.
Works are accepted until December 1, 2020.
The winners will receive special prizes, a cultural and entertainment weekend in Kazan, as well as publication in the CARPET: Carpets as Art magazine.
The finished carpet will be presented in Kazan, it is supposed to be used at important republican events, and it is also possible to develop a souvenir tourist product based on the winning design concepts.
