President of Tatarstan: The monument to Mustai Karim in Kazan will serve to further strengthen the Tatar-Bashkir friendship
A solemn ceremony of opening a monument to the famous Bashkir poet and writer Mustai Karim took place today in Kazan. The event was attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and grandson of Mustai Karim Timerbulat Karimov.
Mustai Karim is a classic of Bashkir literature and the author of outstanding works that have enriched the world cultural fund. He has published over 100 poetry and prose collections, over 10 dramatic works. Laureate of a number of literary awards and prizes. Member of the Great Patriotic War.
In his welcoming speech, Rustam Minnikhanov recalled that last year, the year of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Bashkortostan, a monument to the Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai was opened in Ufa. “This year the Republic of Tatarstan will celebrate its 100th anniversary. And today is an important event for our regions and peoples - we are opening a monument to Mustai Karim. A poet, playwright, publicist, participant of the Great Patriotic War, a public figure, whose name is inscribed in golden letters in Russian and world literature, ”the President of the Republic of Tatarstan said.
He noted that the works of Mustai Karim have always been distinguished by deep meaning, kindness and sincerity, beauty and richness of the language, national Bashkir flavor.
Rustam Minnikhanov expressed confidence that the installation of the monument to Mustai Karim in Kazan will further strengthen the Tatar-Bashkir friendship, continue the traditions of cultural exchange and cooperation.
Then Rustam Minnikhanov presented state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan. The head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov was awarded the medal "100 years of the formation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic" for his significant contribution to the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between peoples.
Radiy Khabirov stressed that the opening of the monument to Mustai Karim in Kazan is a landmark event. “We are more honored that this wonderful monument will be opened in the very center of Kazan. Our spiritual mentor, poet, front-line soldier Mustai Karim has always loved Tatarstan, advocated the eternal fraternal friendship of the two republics and two peoples, ”he said.
The head of Bashkortostan thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for the implementation of this project. “You are one of the most experienced leaders in our country. Let me consider the opening of this monument a symbol of the indestructible friendship between Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, as well as our true male friendship. Let this monument symbolize our further prosperity and movement forward for the good of our state, ”added Radiy Khabirov.
Timerbulat Karimov, in turn, thanked the leadership of Tatarstan and everyone who took part in the creation of the monument.
Then Rustam Minnikhanov and Radiy Khabirov laid flowers at the monument.
The monument is installed on the territory of the park at the intersection of Daurskaya St. and Orenburgsky tract. The author of the sculptural composition was the chairman of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation, People's Artist of Russia, sculptor Andrey Kovalchuk.
