The opening of the exhibition of works of fine and decorative and applied art of artists and craftsmen of Crimea "The Lights of Solkhat" was held at the museum of modern ethno art of the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve

Old Crimea was founded in the XIII century. During its long history, it has changed its name many times: Kyrym, Solkhat, Eski-Kyrym, Levkopol. Solkhat was inhabited by representatives of different peoples - Tatars, Greeks, Genoese, Russians, Armenians, Karaites, Circassians, Kipchaks. Through the centuries, their distinctive crafts have been reflected in the products of modern folk craftsmen.

The exhibition presents more than 200 works created in various genres and techniques of performance: batik, embroidery, lace-making, scrapbooking, attic toys, ceramics, “woolen watercolors”, weaving, wool felting, artistic leather processing, wood carving, patchwork, textile sculpture, painting and graphics. The exhibition includes paintings by Nuri Yakubov, Vera Chekanova, Kadyr Asanov, Ruslan Rustemov, Alexander Melnik, Tatiana Zubenko, Vladimir Koval and Larisa Voitenko.

The exhibition "Fires of Solkhat" is the result of three years of work to find the most interesting directions. Its goal is to preserve cultural traditions in folk art, restore the value of manual creative labor, and popularize the work of original artists and craftsmen of Crimea.
