International project “Cinema for 7 Days” launched in Kazan

3 June 2020, Wednesday

A press conference was held in Kazan dedicated to the launch of the international project “Cinema for 7 Days”. It was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova, project organizers, filmmakers from Russia, Latvia, India, Africa, Vietnam and the United States. The project’s lead speaker was Stanislav Ershov, producer of the project.

The main reason for the online meeting was the announcement of the start of the application campaign for the project “Cinema for 7 Days”. In autumn, it  will  gather for the second time  teams from around the world to shoot short feature films on the locations of Tatarstan on the following topics: dialogue of cultures; Kazan as a location for implementation of international and Russian film projects; new or unpopular sightseeing.

The founder of the international project “Cinema for 7 Days” is the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan. This year the project will be implemented with the support of the Kazan State Institute of Culture.

The international project combines the features of a mobile cinema laboratory and mobile cinema campuses, as a result of which 10 teams will make 10 films of 7 minutes each. In the future, films will be combined in film albums for distribution in Russia and abroad.

The main goal of the project is to popularize the tourist and investment attractiveness of the Republic of Tatarstan as a unique cinema location.

Objectives: to develop a cinematic infrastructure; attract international experts; strengthen creative connections; create youth film projects in co-production.

Teams can send online applications with scripts or extended synopsies at: https://goo.gl/forms/IX4MjtMffxyxCn2j2. Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation caused by the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), there is no exact date for the project and deadline at the end of the application period. Therefore, filmmakers have a great opportunity to prepare better.

The selection committee will form a short list of the 10 best scenarios that will be implemented on the territory of the republic. At the II stage, from the 10 films shot, the jury (the composition is being formed) will select 3 winners and award cash prizes. The winning film will receive 500 thousand rubles, the owners of the second and third places - 300 and 200 thousand rubles, respectively. All participants will receive project diplomas from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Winners will be determined based on the following criteria:
