From February 1 to 16, 2013, a XXXI Shalyapin festival to take place on stage of M. Jalil Theatre

The dates of holding XXXI International festival named after Fyodor Ivanovich Shalyapin  in Kazan  have been determined. Opera forum will be held on a stage  of Tatar academic theatre after M. Jalil from February 1 to 16.   Shalyapin’s festival-2013 is dedicated to  140th anniversary of birthday of the great bass.

According to tradition, the festival  is to be opened by a premiere. This season, it is «Aida»   by J. Verdi  in production of a well known director, RF people’s artiste  Yuri Alexandrov  (St. Petersburg). New scene graphic and costumes for the performance were created by Moscow artist Victor Gerasimenko.  Leading singers of Europe and Russia theatres  have been invited. History of love of Ethiopian  queen and Egypt  commander will be  presented twice within a context of the festival – February 1 and 2.

The forum’s bill, besides  masterpieces of the western-European  and Russian classics, an opera in Tatar language, staged in 2006, «Love of the poet»  by composer Rezeda Akhiyarova,  includes. It is to be shown on February 11.  On February  13, on 140th anniversary of the outstanding opera singer Fyodor Shalyapin   «Boris Godunov»  by M. Musorgsky will be staged.

«Shalyapin’s festival  - this is a true fest of opera art , - deputy director theatre Yuri Larionov marks. –Every time, preparing the festival, we try to device something  special, to surprise and delight our constant spectators because for the years of its existence the forum has acquired its audience. Peculiarity of present festival is  an unprecedented number of the first nights  - this is  the  new  «Aida» and quite fresh, showed in Kazan only several times, performances   «Turandot»  and  «Evgeniy Onegin». One more zest  of the forum  - participation of the troupe  of one of the leading theatres of the world  as a guest.
