Modernized cinema halls will open in Yelabug and Novosheshminsk as part of the national project "Culture"

23 December 2019, Monday

In the last week of the outgoing year in the settlements of Tatarstan with a population of less than 50 thousand people, the last two will open, out of the six planned modernized cinema halls.

On December 27 (15.00), the grand opening of the modern cinema hall will take place in the village of Novosheshminsk (Novosheshminsky District House of Culture) and on December 28 (15.00) in Yelabuga (cinema "Illusion"). Four cinema halls opened a week earlier in the village of Osinovo, Zelenodolsky district.

New digital cinemas equipped with the latest technology appear in small towns of Tatarstan as part of the national project "Culture" with the financial support of the Cinema Fund. 5 million rubles were allocated for their modernization. With these funds, modern cinema projection and sound equipment was installed in the cinema halls. From now on, films in 2D and 3D formats will be shown there.

So, in the Novosheshminsky district of the republic there was no digital cinema until this time at all. It was equipped on the basis of the central house of culture. According to the administration of the district, residents are eagerly awaiting the start of screenings, before they had to travel to the neighboring cities of Almetyevsk and Nizhnekamsk or wait for the arrival of a mobile film installation to watch the latest cinema.

And in the Elabuga cinema "Illusion", digital equipment replaced the old film film installation and a DVD player. They also repaired the hall and installed new chairs.

A prerequisite for the re-equipment of the cinema hall in settlements of up to 500 thousand people is the regular cinema screening of at least 50 days per quarter and the demonstration of films of domestic production in the amount of at least 50% of movie screenings per quarter. So, on the opening day of the modernized cinema halls, viewers will see the continuation of the popular domestic comedy of last year.

In 2019, 5 districts submitted applications for participation in the Cinema Fund competition from Tatarstan: Menzelinsky, Elabuga, Novosheshminsky, Laishevsky, Zelenodolsky. Three of them became the winners of the selection who received a subsidy of 5 million rubles on an irrevocable basis. Currently, 26 digital cinema halls are already operating in Tatarstan with the support of the Cinema Fund.

Recall that the federal program to support the cinema halls has been operating since 2015. Its main goal is the implementation of the conditions for showing national films and ensuring uniform access for the population of the Russian Federation to works of cinema. Since this year, work on the modernization of cinema halls has been included in the national project "Culture".

Reference: The national project “Culture” was developed as part of the implementation of the presidential decree “On national goals and strategic objectives of the development of the Russian Federation for the period until 2024”, the implementation of which began on January 1, 2019. The national project “Culture” includes three federal projects: “Cultural Environment”, “Creative People” and “Digital Culture”. The curator of the national project is Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, and the head is the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky. In the framework of the national project "Culture" by 2024, in particular, it is planned to modernize 1200 cinema halls throughout the country.
