Festival "Theater Volga" will continue in 2020

17 December 2019, Tuesday

December 16, 2019 in Nizhny Novgorod, the winners and prize-winners of the largest youth festival of stage art of the Volga Federal District “Theater Volga Region” were honored. This unique project has been implemented in the Year of the Theater on the initiative of the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov. Its main goal is to encourage non-professional groups to actively compete and identify new names in the theatrical sky of the district.

Participants note that for a long time they lacked a competitive element, and the proposal to measure strength with peers from all regions of the Volga Federal District was a real challenge and a difficult creative task.

483 collectives  and seven thousand young actors took part in the struggle. Some of the guys in this competition raised their level, others honed their skills, and most importantly, everyone received an objective assessment of a professional jury and spectators.

The performances of young theater groups were watched by more than 150 thousand people, another 36 thousand spectators saw video versions of the performances on the Internet. Almost 30 thousand votes - this is the result of popular voting, with the help of which the strongest were determined.

We remind  that the creative studio from the Chuvash Republic became the finalist in the nomination “Best Student Performance”, and the work of children from the small town of Mizhhiria in Bashkortostan was recognized as the best school production. The “Theatrical Volga Region” creates equal conditions for everyone and convincingly proves that there are no barriers to real creativity.

In the nomination "The best actress among student theaters", Laysan Gataullina from the Republic of Tatarstan  has  won.

During the ceremony, deputy envoy Oleg Mashkovtsev awarded not only those who won first place, but also school and student groups that took silver and bronze. The children received commemorative badges and targeted grants for new performances in the amount of 100 to 200 thousand rubles. The best directors and actors received as a gift a trip to Moscow to performances of the leading theaters of Russia.

The winners of the poster contest also received awards.

“In  summer, the plenipotentiary representative met with actors of student theaters at the Volga Youth Forum. One of the guys said that the main discovery for him was an understanding of how many people in the district are involved in theater. Perhaps the creation of a unified cultural space for theater lovers was the main result of the project.

Today we reward the winners of the festival. But I am sure that there are no losers here - all participants received a new impetus for their creativity, the experience of humanism, empathy and mutual understanding, ”said Oleg Mashkovtsev.

The deputy representative  said that the festival, which was born on the Year of the Theater announced by the President of Russia, will continue according to numerous requests.

The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin on stage conveyed the symbol of the Festival to representatives of the Udmurt Republic. The head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, in a video message thanked the plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov for his trust and noted that the region was happy to accept the flag of the “Theater Volga” in 2020.
