Kazan will commemorate the hero-tanker Semyon Vasilievich Konovalov

December 9 at 14.30 in Kazan  the memorial plaque to the Hero of the Soviet Union Semyon Vasilyevich Konovalov  will be  opened. A memorial plaque with text in Russian and Tatar will be installed on the facade of the house at the address: str. Kirpichnikova, d.15. There, Semyon Vasilievich lived in the period from 1961 to 1989.

Semen Vasilievich Konovalov

Born February 15, 1921 in the village. Yambulatovo (now it is the Verkhneuslonsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. Soviet tank ace, participant in the Great Patriotic War. In one of the battles on July 13, 1942, during the Voronezh-Voroshilovgrad operation, commanding the crew of the KV-1 tank, it destroyed 16 enemy tanks and self-propelled guns. Died in Kazan on April 4, 1989 at the age of 68.

On March 31, 1943, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR “for exceptional courage and bravery,” S. V. Konovalov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
