In Kazan at the International Festival of Puppet Theaters “Shombay-fest” 18 performances to be presented
The Puppet theater "Ekiyat" will host the festival of puppet theaters "Shombay-fest". The creative marathon will open on October 23 with a puppet parade. Its participants with their favorite characters from children's and adult performances will pass down St. Petersburg Street. The procession starts at 9.30 from the Sukonnaya Sloboda metro station. The celebration will continue on the site in front of the entrance to the Puppet Theater by solemnly raising the flag of the festival.
During the festival, famous groups from France, Italy, Belarus, Bashkortostan, Khakassia, Karelia, as well as puppeteers from Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Belgorod, Kursk, Orenburg and others will present their best performances.
In total, 18 performances will be played during the festival, most of them are addressed to an adult audience. Among them - the "Caucasian Cretaceous Circle" of the Khakass National Puppet Theater "Tale"; “Iron” of the Puppet Theater of the Republic of Karelia; "Escape" of the Krasnoyarsk Puppet Theater; "Kill Karol" will show the Penza Regional Theater "Doll House"; based on the stories of Mikhail Zoshchenko, “Dear Citizens,” will present the Pierre Orenburg Municipal Puppet Theater and others.
Children will see eight performances: “Good night, mouse” (France), “Dance on the strings” (Italy) and others.
The festival’s educational program included master classes by the main director of the Krasnoyarsk Puppet Theater, four-time winner of the Golden Mask national theater prize Yevgeny Ibragimov and theater critic, head of the All-Russian Laboratory of Puppet Theater Directors Viktor Shraiman.
The performances will be appreciated by members of the jury, which included leading theater critics, honored cultural workers, doctors of art, directors. It is expected that the honored guest of the festival will be the granddaughter of the founder of the Moscow Puppet Theater Sergei Obraztsov, director of the State Academic Central Puppet Theater named after S.V. Obraztsov, Ekaterina Obraztsova.
The jury will determine the winners in the nominations “Best Performance”, “Best Director's Work”, “Best Acting Work”, “Best Acting Supporting Work”, “Best Artist's Work”, “For the Best Musical Performance of the Performance”, “Novation of the Festival”.
Within the framework of the festival, a children's jury will also work, consisting of pupils from secondary schools in Kazan who are interested in studying the art of puppet theater.
“Shombay-fest - 2019” will end on October 28 with a big holiday dedicated not only to the closing of the festival, but also to the anniversary of the theater - this year the Ekiyat puppet theater turned 85 years old.
