“Russian Museum: A Virtual Branch” is a unique international educational project embodying the idea of the accessibility of the world's largest collection of Russian fine art to a wide audience. Since 2003, the Russian Museum has opened virtual branches in museums, universities, cultural centers, institutions of further education in Russia and abroad.
On September 25-26, Kazan will host an offsite scientific and practical seminar of the Russian Museum “Digital technologies in the educational activities of cultural and educational institutions of the project“ Russian Museum: a virtual branch ”.
The educational forum was organized by the Consulting and Methodological Center of the Art Museums of the Russian Federation department in conjunction with the Virtual Russian Museum service on the initiative of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan. It will bring together heads and representatives of services and departments of museums, cultural and educational institutions of the Russian Federation involved in the development of digital technologies, including institutions where virtual branches of the Russian Museum are based or are planning to open.
Listeners will get acquainted with the project “Russian Museum: a virtual branch”; digital educational resources of the Russian Museum, including virtual exhibitions and electronic albums; forms of work of the virtual branches of the Russian Museum. Particular attention will be paid to joint educational projects of the Russian Museum and its virtual branches. The program includes both theoretical classes and master classes.
The seminar will be the first of a series of four seminars of the museum-pedagogical program with the participation of leading experts of the State Russian Museum, as part of the activities of the Cultural and Exhibition Center of the Russian Museum in Kazan. Participation is free.
The museum-pedagogical program is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan. The next workshops will be held in November and December 2019.

Information: The first cultural and exhibition center of the Russian Museum in Russia was opened in Kazan on the basis of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan on March 19, 2016. The program of the center includes temporary exhibitions from the collection of the Russian Museum, holding events of various formats - lectures, master classes, musical, creative and poetic evenings. The resource center and virtual branch offer visitors a variety of educational and enlightenment programs. For museum specialists, lectures, seminars, and consultations are held in various areas of activity.
