On June 29, in the village of Poikino, Mamadyshsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republican festival of the Udmurt culture "Gyron-Bydton-2019" will be held. Beginning at 14:00.
"Gyron Bydton" literally translates as "the end of plowing." It is carried out when all field works is completed, and you can take a breath before harvest. According to the beliefs of the Udmurts, their God “Vos” on June 1 from the prayer temple “Kuala” flies off into the meadows and returns back to Petrov day (July 12). Therefore, during this period they pray not in the temple, but in nature. And in order not to offend God inadvertently, from June 1 to July 12 it is forbidden to pick flowers and meadow herbs. Guests of the holiday are treated to porridge cooked on a fire and watered with Kumyshka - Udmurt beer.
Since 1998, the Gyron Bydton Udmurt Culture Republican Festival has been held annually. This Saturday, June 29, guests will enjoy an extensive program with games, contests and performances of folklore ensembles, which will gather from cities and districts of Tatarstan, as well as from the Republic of Udmurtia and the Kirov region. At the same time, there will be several concert and playgrounds, including children's and youth ones. In addition, as part of the festival, folk art exhibitions, photo-zones, folk games and fun, souvenir sales, contests of harmonists and ditto players will be orgaized. Also, participants and guests of the event are invited to visit the Udmurt homesteads, "House of the fisherman - hunter" and the exhibition "Trophies of hunters and fishermen." Everyone will be able to take part in master classes in basket weaving, pottery craft, grass weaving, learn the secrets of cooking national dishes.
Traditionally there will be contests "Cheberina and Batyr 2019", where participants will compete for knowledge of the language, traditions, customs, history, cultural heritage of the Udmurt people.
The performances by the soloists of the Udmurt State Theater of Folklore Song and Dance “Aikay”, the variety ensemble “Shuldyr Zhyt” are expected.
