At the Leninogorsk district holiday of the Mordovian culture "Baltai" celebrated
June 23 in the village of Mordovskaya Karmalka, the Leninogorsk municipal district the Republican festival of Mordovian culture "Baltai" will be held.
Baltai is one of the oldest traditional festivals of the Mordovian people. Mordovian folk groups from Almetyevsk, Bugulma, Cheremshansky, Leninogorsk municipal districts Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelnywill gather for it.
In our republic, the residents of the village of Mordovia Karmalka honor the traditions of their ancestors and annually, on the first Sunday after the Holy Trinity, they celebrate the Baltai. It is based on pagan prayers in honor of the owner of the forest - the bear.
By tradition, the action will begin in a forest glade, where they will choose three "bears", who will be dressed in a coat of maple branches, lead round dances, singing ritual songs. Further, all participants will have a festive procession through the streets of the village. The passage of the “bear way” will end on the main street with the “farewell to the bear” ceremony. All those present at the festival "strip bears", trying to pull the maple twig out of the "coat" and fan it with each other. After all, according to legend, the more sweeps, the more benefits everyone will get. And if the sprig moistened with well water, then even more. And the more bears lose weight, the more people rejoice.
