Tatar national holiday Sabantuy-2019 celebrated in Tashkent
On June 9, the Tatar national holiday “Sabantuy-2019”, timed to the Year of Active Investments and Social Development in Uzbekistan, was held at the Central Culture and Recreation Park of Tashkent.
A solemn event was attended by representatives of official bodies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tashkent, activists of the national cultural centers of the republic, creative intelligentsia, compatriots and young people.
Guests were addressed by Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kurbanov R.D., Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation Akhmetshin R.K., Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation Federations to the Republic of Uzbekistan Tyurdenev V.L., Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Uzbekistan Shulika V.N., representative of the Republic of Tatarstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Shakirov R.A., Chairman of the Tatar Public Cultural and Educational Center (TOKPTS) of Tashkent city Nabiullin R.Kh., Chairman of the Council of Elders of the TOKPTS Tashkent city Giniyatullin R.A.
The plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, R.K.Akhmetshin, read out the welcome message by President of the Republic of Tatarstan, R.N.Minnikhanov to the organizers and participants of Sabantui in Tashkent, and also presented the activists of the TOCTS of the city of Tashkent with the medals the birth of Musa Jalil ".
Speakers marked that Uzbekistan respects the languages, culture, customs and traditions of all nations and nationalities living on its territory, creates favorable conditions for their development, and provides opportunities for implementation of national spiritual and cultural needs.
Guests from Kazan performed at the concert: Honored Artists of the Republic of Tatarstan, vocal duo “Zu-Liai-Lya” Lyaisan Zakirov and Lyaisan Mukhametshina. Spectators were also pleased with their art by popular Tatar singers and dance groups in Uzbekistan.
Everyone wanted to try their hand at competitions such as kuresh, lifting weights, arm wrestling, tug-of-war, climbing a pillar for rooster on the top, running with eggs in a spoon, running with a yoke and buckets of water, fighting on a log with straw bags, smashing clay pots blindfolded, running in bags, etc. For the first time, the event featured prize competitions in canoes (#RowingCHALLENGE) from Ozone Fitness, as well as an exhibition of sports bikes from the Patriot motor club. The park hosted an exhibition-fair of Tatar national baking, household utensils and handicrafts.
Sabantuy in Tashkent annually gathers tens of thousands of spectators from different parts of Uzbekistan, as well as guests from other countries of the world and neighboring republics, and is by right the largest abroad, this year the festival has gathered more than 40 thousand people.
