President of Tatarstan and Governor of the Novosibirsk Region took part in the Federal Sabantui

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrei Travnikov and Presidential Envoy to the Siberian Federal District Sergey Menyaylo took part in the Tatar national holiday "Federal Sabantuy - 2019" as honored guests.

The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan also included: Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of Milli Shura of the World Congress of Tatars Vasil Shaikhraziev; Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan  Irada Ayupova;  Head of the Nizhnekamsk municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan, Aidar Metshin; Director General of PJSC TATNEFT Nail Maganov. It should be noted that the Nizhnekamsk Municipal District is a co-organizer of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Federal Sabantuy in 2019 in the city of Novosibirsk.

Festive Maidan is located on the well-planned embankment of the Ob River in the center of Novosibirsk. At the opening of the festivities, the guests and participants of the festival were presented with a dramatized prologue, which tells about the history and rituals of Sabantui.

After the music prologue, Sergey Menaylo, Andrei Travnikov and Rustam Minnikhanov greeted the guests and participants of the holiday. President of Tatarstan thanked and marked the most active members of the Tatar community of the Novosibirsk region with republican state awards. Further, the distinguished guests proceeded to the sites of folk festivals and competitions, tasted national treats.

“It is a great honor for us, and the Novosibirsk region was not accidentally chosen as the venue for the celebration. More than 24 thousand Tatars live in the region. Ethnic groups of the Siberian Tatars were formed on this land,” President of Tatarstan noted and added that the regional authorities had great respect for the customs and traditions of all the peoples living in the region. He also said that the Federal Sabantui, held in the Novosibirsk region, is already the 19th in a row. Prior to that, Sabantui was hosted by Cheboksary, Astrakhan, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk, Tyumen, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg and others. This year, the holiday Sabantuy with the support of the Republic of Tatarstan is celebrated in 56 regions of Russia and 30 foreign countries.

At the end of the speech, Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Andrei Travnikov,  Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, and all the Novosibirsk residents taking part in the celebration for the excellent organization of the event. He also highlighted  Head of the Nizhnekamsk region, Aydar Metshin, and the Nizhnekamsk residents of Tatarstan, who for several years were the main organizers of the Federal Sabantui.

According to the All-Russian population census in the Novosibirsk region  live  more than 24 thousand Tatars.  Tatars live compactly in the Barabinsk, Vengerovsky, Kargatsky, Kolyvan, Kuibyshev, Kyshtovsky, Tatarsky, Ubinsky, Ust-Tarsky and Chanovsky districts. Representatives of the indigenous population of Siberia live in the region - the Barabin and Chat Tatars, who are currently in danger of extinction because of their small number. These ethnic groups belong to the Siberian Tatars. In addition to them, the Volga-Ural Tatars also reside in the region, having moved to this region at different times.

Numerous Tatar public organizations  work in the Novosibirsk Region, such as the Association of Tatars of Siberia,  Regional Tatar National Cultural Autonomy of the Novosibirsk Region, the Ak Kalfak Women's Club, the Novosibirsk Regional Tatar Cultural Center and others. With  active participation of these organizations, the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy is held annually in Novosibirsk, the Kuibyshev district, the villages of Kargatsky, Ordynskoe, and Yurt-Ora of the Novosibirsk region.
