24 May 2019, Friday

On May 25, 2019, the village of Nikolskoye, Laishevsky municipal district, awaits guests on the main Russian holiday in our republic, the Russian national holiday Karavon. The old tradition of the feast day of the village, the day of Nicholas the Wonderworker, Nikola Veshny, has been preserved to this day, when, after serving in a rural church, people go to celebrations: gather and play a caravan, a local dance that leads together with little fingers step by step, and sing certain songs dedicated to this time - “As for the blue sea”, “At the bottom, a little bit”, “As for the river”. Since the holiday in 1993 acquired the status of a republican, everyone can become a witness of a traditional action with its features, traditions and colors - and every year more and more.

This year, guests will enjoy interactive themed areas. This joint singing, learning dances, children's games, youthful fun, creative meetings with local traditions with songs and stories about past life, an entourage photo zone, learning old techniques and technologies from the masters - potters, weavers and many others, and a collective handmade project, where everyone can have a hand in the canvas with a common embroidery and weaving - a colorful symbol of festive unity. There will be a big fair with its atmosphere and the fairie, which Petrushka’s theater and street musicians will create.

The hosts of the holiday and the custodians of the local tradition are the folklore ensemble of the village of Nikolskoye Karavon, in which the tradition is passed on from elderly bearers to young participants. The best folklore groups of Kazan will present the Russian musical tradition of Tatarstan: “Don't like it - don't listen”, “Red Hill”, “Spirits Day”, KGIK choir, “Kupava”, “Kolyada”, children's “Mlada” and “Lad”. This year special guests will come to the holiday - folklore groups from the Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Samara and Saratov regions, the republics of Udmurtia and Bashkiria. Nikita Petrov, an anthropologist, field ethnographer, author of articles and books on folklore, curator of the research project Historical Memory of the City (Moscow, RANHIGS) was invited as the curator of the special site “Expedition”, a meeting place with rural folk performers.

Already in the new, republican tradition, more than 150 folklore groups and ensembles of Russian folk songs from the regions of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation will gather at Karavon, who will present their work on the “Folk Scene” and as part of the interactive sites.

The holiday will end with the traditionally large round dance of all participants and guests.

The special guest of the holiday will be the Russian singer, the singer of folk songs, the laureate of international festivals and competitions, the finalist of the television project “People's Artist-3” - Marina Devyatova.

For the first time in the history of the holiday, guest presenter Yuly Makarov (Omsk - Moscow) will broadcast the event live throughout the day. The organizers are open to cooperation with the owners of public in social networks.
