work with people with visual impairments has been   presented to the Crimean librarians at the republican scientific and practical seminar “The Library Without Borders: New Technologies, New Thinking”.

The seminar was held on October 29, 2018 on the basis of the Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library named after I.Ya. Franko.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, republican libraries and Centralized Library Systems of the region, leading experts from Sevastopol.

During the work of the scientific-practical seminar, new formats of library and information services for socially vulnerable groups of the population were considered. The issues of using information resources of libraries for users with disabilities, attracting volunteers have been covered.

Head of the department of organizational, methodical and bibliographic activities of the Republican Special Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired Gelyusa Zakirova  participated in the seminar in a format of online communication.

In her presentation “Library for the blind as a platform for social adaptation of visually impaired people” she presented the experience of the library in providing access to information, national and world cultural values ​​for this category of users. In particular, an overview was given of successful projects and developments of the library, which expand the possibilities of gaining access to educational, artistic, local lore literature, visual information, as well as the adaptation of spectacular art forms.

The workshop provided an opportunity for librarians to gain new knowledge and improve their professional skills. The issues discussed during the event were aimed at introducing innovative library services into practice, efficiently organizing work with specific user groups.

The activity of the Republican Special Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired was highly appreciated by the Crimean colleagues.
