8 October 2018, Monday

On October 10, at 18.30, in the Tatar State Philharmonic named after Gabdulla Tukai in the framework of subscription number 10, A. Adan’s ballet “Giselle” will be performed by the artists of the Russian theater of the classical ballet “Stars of Moscow”.

The ballet “Giselle” in two acts to the music of Adolf Charles Adan is a touching, beautiful love story; incredible beauty, gentle and tragic music, fantastic corps de ballet scenes. The performance was created in the era of romantic ballet and became its ultimate achievement. For 200 years, Giselle has not left the stage and is considered the main romantic ballet of the world repertoire. The music of Adan is not just a rhythmic accompaniment to the dances: it is spiritual and poetic, creates mood, outlines the characteristics of the characters and the through musical action.

The premiere of the ballet "Giselle" was held on June 28, 1841 at the Paris Academy of Music and Dance and was immediately recognized as an outstanding achievement of the choreographic theater. On December 18, 1842, choreographer Antoine Titus introduced Paris to St. Petersburg.

The unique consonance of the touching plot and its choreographic incarnation made the fate of Giselle extremely successful. In the 1850s, in St. Petersburg, the ballet was supervised by one of the authors, the master of expressive dance Jules Perrot, and underwent a minor correction. However, drastic changes in dance scenes belong to Marius Petipa (1887, 1899). The ballet master, carefully preserving the style of the romantic ballet, cut it off so convincingly that now Petipa is considered to be the third author of the choreography “Giselle”. Today it is no longer possible to separate  Petipa editing from previous productions.

On the stage of the Tatar Philharmonic, the Russian Theater of Classical Ballet "STARS OF MOSCOW" will present the ballet "Giselle" in the editorship of K. Goleizovsky to the 215th anniversary of the birth of composer A. Adan.
