The full-length documentary film by director Alexey Barykin “Osanna” became the winner of the 29th open festival of documentary films “Russia” - the main national forum of documentary film makers of the country, which was held in Yekaterinburg from October 1 to 7. The film received a prize for best television documentary. For the first time this year, the festival held two competitions: a documentary competition and a television documentary film competition. The selection to the Directorate of the festival received 404 films from 45 Russian cities and 11 post-Soviet countries. The peculiarity of this year are films from hot spots: Lugansk, Makeyevka, Donetsk, Tiraspol. The two competitive programs of the festival "Rassiya" included 66 works. Russia was represented in the competition by films from Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Kazan, Minsk, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Kirov. For the first time, works from Yakutsk, Nalchik and the settlement of Uralsky of the Perm Territory entered the competition. 14 debut films from St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Yerevan and Moscow were shown. The program of the competition of documentary films included 39 films, among which are the works by famous documentary film makers Ivan Tverdovsky, Andrey Osipov, Natalia Guguyeva, Evgeny Golinkin, Evgeny Solomin, Valery Timoschenko, Pavel Fattakhutdinov. The competition of television documentary films presented 27 films, including pictures by such eminent authors as Sergei Miroshnichenko, Elena Chavchavadze, Tynai Ibrahimov.
Reference: The main roles in the film “Osanna” were performed by Russian actors Andrei Merzlikin, Alexander Mikhailov and ballet dancer Ilze Liepa. The film is dedicated to the life of Elizabeth Feodorovna, the sister of the last Russian empress. The film premiered on July 18 in Kazan, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Alapaevsk, as well as on three federal television channels. The film was shot with the financial support of the Kazan philanthropist Andrei Kolmakov.
