August 3, 2018 at the Museum of Islamic Culture the exhibition "Calligraphy of the East - in the heart of Kazan. Modern masters of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia." will open. The exhibition presents the works of four recognized calligraphers - our contemporaries: Abdul Rashid Batta and Irfan Qureshi (Republic of Pakistan), Jamal al-Kebasi al-Rabea and Mohammed Alkibashi (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). The exhibition will be the first for these masters of "husni - hatt" (elegant writing) in Russia. Calligraphic works that generated a keen interest in festivals and exhibitions in the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, Iran, China and more than 20 other countries around the world will be presented at the Museum of Islamic Culture of the Kazan Kremlin Reserve Museum. Rashid Butt and Jamal al-Kebashi al-Rabea are members  of the jury of international competitions (IRCICA), curators of festivals (Algeria, Kuwait, Great Britain). They teach at universities and colleges, they are authors of articles and books on exquisite writing, but first of all they consider themselves to be faithful followers of the traditions of the centuries-old art of Arabic calligraphy. At the exhibition you can see works in various techniques: tazhib (patterned pattern with gilding), calligraphic panels, posters, book design.

On the calligraphic works of Rashid Batt, the names of the Most High, a verbal description of the Prophet Muhammad, are inscribed. Mastery of classical calligraphic styles allows the Pakistani author to create memorable works. Traditions of masters of styles Nastalik and Kufi continue the works by Irfan Kureshi. The compositions of Jamal al-Kebashi al-Rabea differ in composition laconism and oriental patterns. Restraint and sentimentality have converged in the work of this calligrapher. The works of the designer Muhammad Alkibasi represent a new word in graphically laconic, stylish direction of the search for contemporary calligraphers.

Within the exhibition, Rashid Butt will hold a three-day course on the oldest of the calligraphic styles - Kufi. On the opening day of the exhibition, recognized masters will conduct author's excursions. Calligraphy battle of calligraphers from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Tatarstan will be held in the first week. During the days of the exhibition, the Museum invites you to calligraphy master classes from the staff of the Museum of Islamic Culture and meet with calligraphers in Kazan.
