June 24, at 11.00 on the Sabantuy Maidan of the Atninsky district the XI Republican Sabantuy Theater and entertainment institutions will be held. This year traditional state theaters of Tatarstan take part in the traditional festival. The organizers of the event are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Tatar State Drama and Comedy Theater named after Karim Tinchurin and the administration of the Atninsky District.
Sabantuy Theater-entertainment institutions are held in order to popularize the Sabantuy national holiday, revive and preserve the holidays and ceremonies of the Tatar people, popularize genres and types of art and creativity, strengthen and develop theatrical unions between the state theaters of Tatarstan.
Despite the fact that Sabantuy is called "theatrical and spectacular", it does not do without traditional competitions: running with rockers with water, lifting weights, running with bags, breaking a pot, fighting with bags, dancing marathon, climbing on an inclined and, of course, national wrestling "Koresh". In compulsory kinds of competitions the participants who have won prize-winning places, will be marked by valuable gifts. It is planned that the absolute winner in the national wrestling - batyr, in addition to the ram, will traditionally receive the main prize from the President of the Republic of Tatarstan - a car. It should be noted that in this kind of competitions only artists of state theaters are allowed to take part.
The history of this Sabantui in Tatarstan dates back to 2005. The initiator of the celebration for the theater community of the republic was the Tatar State Drama and Comedy Theater named after Karim Tinchurin. The first Theatrical Sabantuy was held in the village of Aldermysh of the Vysokogorsky district. Since then, more than 3 thousand representatives of creative collectives of Tatarstan take part in the festival annually.
For the entire history of Sabantuy Theater-entertainment institutions, the festival was held in Arsk, Pestrechinsky, Sabinsky districts, Mirny settlement near Kazan, as well as in Naberezhnye Chelny and Buinsk.
