The library for the blind and visually impaired completed work on creating a tactile collection of architectural monuments of Tatarstan

Within the framework of the "Tatarstan tangible" project, five 3D models of architectural monuments were made out of number  the most popular and recognizable sights, symbols of Tatarstan: the Spasskaya Tower of the Kazan Kremlin, the Governor's Palace, the Syuyumbike Tower, the Annunciation Cathedral, the Kul Sharif Mosque. The project has been  implemented in partnership with organizations Kazan Design, abs3d Kazan and with the involvement of educational and rehabilitation institutions, public organizations for the blind republic.

"Architectural monuments are an important part of the cultural and historical heritage. Unfortunately, the visual defect becomes a serious information barrier when visiting cultural sites and imposes significant limitations on  perception of architectural monuments. Thanks to this project, our visually impaired people enjoy a unique opportunity to literally touch the symbols of Tatarstan recognized throughout the world. Using copies and layouts in 3D format, they will be able to more fully acquaint themselves with the cultural and historical heritage of our republic, through tactile  perception, "consider" both individual architectural details and the general composition of structures, imagine the volume and shape, along with all comprehend the secrets of beauty architectural brands of the republic "- noted the author of the project Gelyusya Zakirova.

Currently, mock-ups pass test presentations among blind volunteer experts and specialists working with the blind. On the eve of the World Cup in the library for the blind, it is planned to open an adapted for the special perception of the disabled by sight of the exhibition-exposition, which includes models of architectural monuments and information materials about them in Braille and enlarged form, which will be available not only to readers of the library, but also the blind guests of the capital.
