The State Ensemble of Georgian Folk Singing "BASIANI" will perform in Kazan

April 16,  at the State Grand Concert Hall after  S. Saidashev with a solo concert will perform the State Ensemble of Georgian Folk Singing "Basiani". The beginning is at 18.30.

The program of the Kazan concert will feature Georgian and Russian spiritual songs, Georgian folk songs accompanied by national Georgian instruments, as well as Russian folk songs.

The ensemble "Basiani" was created in 2000, with the blessing of His Holiness and Bliss, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. The ensemble is part of the Patriarchal Choir of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi, which participates in church services.

In 2013, "Basiani" was awarded the status of the State Ensemble of Georgian Folk Singing. The founder and artistic director of the ensemble is Giorgi Donadze. The majority of participants of the ensemble are young singers from traditional singing dynasties who started their creative career in children's folklore collectives of Georgia.

Since its foundation, the "Basiani" ensemble has been reviving and popularizing samples of Georgian traditional polyphony. Currently, the team is working on recording the full anthology of Georgian polyphonic chants.

The unique creative skill of the ensemble "Basiani" was appreciated in many countries of the world. Spectators applauded the famous Georgian collective in England, USA, Holland, Ireland, Poland, Lithuania. With great success several times the ensemble "Basiani" performed in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
