Rustam Minnikhanov: Culture is not only the preservation of material and spiritual heritage, but also the formation of values that unite people, the creation of new cultural products

Today the President of Tatarstan    has delivered  an annual message to the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The event was held in Kazan in a Grand Concert Hall  named after. Salih Saidashev.

Rustam Minnikhanov paid much attention to issues of culture.

The President described as a huge success of our republic  the inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List of the Assumption Cathedral and the Monastery of the Sviyazhsk Island.

"This is a natural result of many years of work by  scientists, archaeologists, restorers, builders, labor collectives and, of course, the Vozrozhdeniye Foundation, headed by Mintimer Sharipovich Shaimiev," Rustam Minnikhanov said.

He reminded that today in the territory of our republic there are 3 out of 29 Russian World Heritage sites.

"Taking into account the increased demands of UNESCO, the State Council of the Republic needs to consider measures of legislative provision for  preservation, integrity and authenticity of these objects. Taking into account  experience gained, it is necessary to continue archeological and research and restoration works at the sites of historical and cultural heritage, as well as participation in various international projects, "the President emphasized.

Rustam Minnikhanov dwelt   at events timed to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Tatarstan. According to him, they will promote the unity of the Tatarstanians and the unity of the peoples of the Russian Federation. He urged the Government to step up   implementation of projects on construction of iconic jubilee objects in our capital: the National Library and a large universal concert hall.

"Rich heritage, rich business, cultural and sporting life of the republic contribute to the greater recognition of Tatarstan," Rustam Minnikhanov continued. "Every year we host more than 30 major international events and forums."

"The mentality of our multinational people, their spirituality, special traditions are reflected in a culture that is important to consider in the broadest sense. Culture is not only  preservation of material and spiritual heritage, but also the formation of values ​​that unite people, the creation of new cultural products, "said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

According to him, the current level of development of culture should be integrated with  education system,  sphere of tourism, sports, archival and librarianship. Culture should be addressed not only  the past, but also the future, meet modern demands.

"This is particularly true of young people who do not accept comparisons with the past and are easily exposed to new influences, perceive trust and social justice, appreciate the opportunity for self-actualization and focus on the best world practices. Particular attention should be paid to working with talented, creative youth and its associations. It is important to develop centers of creative industries, resource centers, "the President concluded.
