The XIII Kazan Film Festival: briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan

From September 5 to September 11, 2017, Kazan will host the XIII International Festival of Muslim Cinema (IFMC), one of the largest Russian film festivals, held annually since 2005. The program of the forum is traditionally composed of films that carry the ideas of peacemaking, tolerance, tolerance, telling about the ways of building interethnic cooperation. The founders of the Kazan Film Festival are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Kazan City Council, the Council of Muftis of Russia. The festival is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and in partnership with the Strategic Vision Group "Russia - the Islamic World".

The competition program of 2017 will make 60 films from 27 countries of the world (all in all, 782 applications from 61 countries were sent for participation). In addition to the traditional works in the format of a full feature films, full documentary, short feature  and short documentary, in this season special competitive positions are singled out: the "Young Russia" nomination ("young Russian tapes" of different young groups) and the absolutely new "National Section" Cinema ", within the framework of which all important films created in Tatarstan for the last year will be presented.

An authoritative jury chaired by People's Artist of Russia, director and screenwriter Nikolai Dostal  will evaluate the contest program. The festival's guests will be well-known figures of cinema - actors Natalya Varley, Svetlana Svetlichnaya, Vladimir Konkin, Anna Snatkina, Leonid Kulagin, Victor Merezhko, Marat Basharov, Kirill Pletnev, producer Ruben Dishdishyan, film critic Kirill Razlogov and many others.
