We invite you to visit a special screening of the opening film of the 13th Kazan Film Festival – movie  "Our Preacher"  by  Magdi Ahmed Ali (Egypt). The press-show will be held on August 29 (Tuesday) at 16.00 in the cinema "Mir". The picture will open the program of the  XIII KIFMC on September 5 and will be shown to the general public in the cinemas "Rodina" and "Mir", as well as (in favorable weather) at the Kazan Kremlin in an open air format.

The tape chosen as the opening film is a drama about a Muslim preacher, who finds himself in networks of interaction between politics and religion.

The film was approved for display by the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan, having received the following characteristic: "The main problem raised by the motion picture is the manipulation of religion by unholy political forces for their own purposes. Despite the fact that the main target audience of the film is the Arab world, its theme is also relevant for any other state: the terrorist bombardment of the Coptic church and the fire bombardment of the Sufi multi-storey building - these two scenes unite all nations with a universal tragedy called "extremism". Religious tolerance is the main message of the filmmakers for the audience. "

Director Magdi Ahmed Ali was born in 1952 in Egypt. He was educated as a pharmacist, then studied directing at the Higher School of Cinematography. He was an assistant to prominent directors, and in 1996 he made his first film "My Life, My Love". Then followed such films as "Hero" (with Ahmed Zakki in the title role), "Girl's Secrets", "The Recipe of Fausia", "Birds of Eden" (with Fathi Abd Al Wahab in the title role), television series "Friske" and "Kingdom Mountains ". The film "Our Preacher" was shot  in 2016.
