Traditions and modernity. Features of the transition, the possibility of transformation

August 25-27 within the framework of the IX International ethnic festival "Krutushka"  an open scientific and practical conference "Traditions and modernity. Features of the transition, the possibility of transformation" will be held.

Scientists - historians and ethnographers, designers of clothes, participants of folklore ensembles, as well as spectators of the festival will gather on Friday, August 25 in the territory of the health-educational complex "Baitik" (Krutushka village, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan).

One of the directions of the joint research will be how the traditional costume lives in our days. The conference participants will share their knowledge and reflections in connection with the history of folk costumes,  development of ethno-trends in modern fashion and the actualization of national identity through casual clothing.

Lectures on the Russian costume will be read by  researcher of the St. Petersburg Ethnographic Museum in St. Petersburg Elena Madlevskaya,  methodologist of the Center of Russian Folklore Galina Elistratova will acquaint you with the features of the costume of the Kazan region. The history and modern trends in the Tatar costume will be mentioned  in their  reports  by  researchers of the Institute of History. Sh. Mardjani of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Svetlana Suslova and Dina Gatina-Shafikova.

Representatives of fashion brands - "VARVARA" from Moscow and "Tatarcha casual" from Kazan will share their experience and their vision of harmony of traditional, national and ultramodern. All the participants and listeners will be able to discuss topical issues within the framework of the round table.

The second direction of the conference within the framework of the festival "Krutushka" is traditional holidays, forms of its existence, preservation and transfer to the next generations. Ekaterina Yagafova,  head of the Chair of Philosophy, History and Theory of World Culture of the Samara Social and Pedagogical University, will give a lecture on the transformation of the festive ritual culture of the Chuvashes in  conditions of society's modernization and under the influence of globalization processes. Kazan studio "Innovation" presents a film by Salavat Yuzeev "Kukmorsky guys" about the existence of traditions associated with the ancient Tatar rite of Seren.

On the opening day of the conference on August 25, the entrance to the festival is free.
