Sviyazhsk will host the first International Festival of debut documentary "Rudnik"

27 June 2017, Tuesday

From August 16 to August 20, the International Festival of Debut Documentary cinema"Rudnik", organized by the Living City Foundation, the Smena Center for Contemporary Culture and the Sviyazhsk Island Museum-Reserve with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan will be held on Sviyazhsk Island in Tatarstan.

venting the name for the festival, the organizers tried to emphasize several important, in their opinion, meanings. Firstly, Rudnik is the only festival of debut documentaries in Russia at the moment, and its tasks can be compared with the tasks of the mine - the mining enterprise, the search for new talented authors. Secondly, Rudnik - the name of the village, founded near the mine on the steep bank of the Volga opposite the island of Sviyazhsk, where the festival will be held.

The contest program of the festival will include the first works by  students and graduates of international film schools. In the out-of-competition program of  the debut works by  Tatarstan's directors will be able to take part.

Within the framework of the educational program of the festival will be the laboratory of the School of Documentary and Theater  by  Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov, in which beginners can take part. In addition, parallel to it will be a school of documentary animation under the guidance of an art critic, program director of the Big Festival of cartoons Dina Goder and screenwriter Alexander Rodionov. Admission to schools - by competition. Classes will be held on the island of Sviyazhsk. Also during the festival there will be lectures, discussions and master-classes of the jury members, devoted not only to documentary films, but also to other documentary forms of self-expression.

The basis of the festival will be a competitive program. In 2017, debut documentary films created by the authors during and after the training at a film school or film school will be open for participation in it. The competition includes full-length documentaries (duration from 40 to 120 minutes) and short documentaries (up to 40 minutes). The prize fund of the festival is 1300 euros.
