National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan invites children to the local lore camp

The National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan invites children to the summer camp "New generation: heirs of the Bolgar", which will be held from July 12 to July 25, 2017. The camp "New generation: the heirs of the Bolgar" has been   organized this year jointly with the Bulgarian State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve with the support of the Republican Foundation for the Revival of the Monuments of History and Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Spassky Municipal District of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Several thousand children passed through the camp. Many of them, having become adults and relying on their personal experience, themselves wanted to change the format of the camp for immersion in History! The new shift will be called "The New Generation: the heirs of the Bolgar" and will be dedicated to the period of the Volga Bulgaria and its flourishing.

As before, children of 12-15 years old who wish to immerse themselves in a historical epoch of the Middle Ages are invited to participate in active summer holidays. During the shift, each of them can plunge into history, hear the forgotten myths, legends and  of this land, get acquainted with the life of the ancient Bulgars, try themselves as a brave warrior, master craftsman, merchant or other residents of the Volga Bulgaria of the 12th-13th centuries.

The camp has a unique opportunity to learn historical fencing with a "safe weapon", along with experienced instructors to master survival skills in the wild, learn to create everyday household items from metal, clay and leather, sew and embroider, cook at the stake.

An important component of the camp shift will be interactive lectures and master classes on history, archeology and ecology with  participation of specialists from the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Bulgarian State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan Federal University.

The camp "The New Generation: the heirs of the Bolgar" is not only a game in history. It is also a full-fledged fascinating tent life with songs by the fire, sports competitions, thematic quests, the lapta championship and traditional KVN.
