June 24 the XI Open Festival of Chuvashes of the TransKama of the Republic of Tatarstan "Uchuk"

June 24  on the territory of the Starosurkinsky rural settlement of the Almetyevsky municipal district  the 11th Open Festival of the Chuvashes of the TransKama of the  Republic of Tatarstan  Uchuk. The festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan,  Executive Committee of the Almetyevsky Municipal District, the Chuvash National and Cultural Autonomy of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Almetyevsky representative office of the ChNCA in the Republic of Tatarstan with the assistance of the Starosurkinsky rural settlement.

06.00 - Rite "Uchuk" ("Field Prayer")

10.30 - Grand opening of the festival.

11.00 - Traditions and ceremonies of the Chuvashes.

12.30 - Rite to the Tura

From 9.30 to 12.30 there are sports and children's playgrounds

14.00 - Awarding of the festival participants. Folk festivities.

15.00 - Closing of the festival.

Uchuk is a national prayer of the Chuvashes. People expressed satisfaction with the grown harvest and desired no less in the next year. Drought, strong winds and hail particularly disturbed a farmer and became the reasons for resorting to the gods. In the XIX century  and, especially, at the beginning of the 20th century, this ritual was given additional properties: it was also arranged in connection with a crop failure, and with the aim of getting rid of diseases like mor(mortality). Chuvash Uchuk is considered a tradition that has been going on since ancient times. The rite has several terms-variants, of which the most common and established is the Uchuk obtained by merging two words: ui "field" + "chuk" "sacrifice, prayer.
