Theater named after V. I. Kachalov: 226th season has solemnly closed

Kazan Academic Russian Grand Drama Theater named after V. I. Kachalov with the play "Mad Day, or The Marriage of Figaro"  has closed its 226th season.

Premieres

The 226th season has  enriched a repertoire of one of the oldest theaters in Russia with new performances both on the Main Stage and on the Small Stage. The first premiere of the season was Shakespeare's immortal comedy « Taming of the Shrew», staged by the St. Petersburg director, a laureate of the State Award  of Russia, a laureate of the National Theater Award "Golden Mask"  Igor Konyaev. The performance was included in the number of hits of the Kachalovsky repertoire, collecting full rooms throughout the season. No less triumph was the return to the repertoire of the Russian theater of the capital of Tatarstan by the work of the great Russian writer Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol: in December at the Small  Stage, director Ilya Slavutsky presented his version of one of the most mysterious comedies of the world drama - the Gogolian "Marriage". And in early March, the Kachalovites invited everyone to the theatrical and poetic evening "Winter Tram" - a joint project of the theater and the magazine "Idel", which presented the poems of Kazan poets to the audience in  performance by  young actors of the theater.

Anniversaries

November 27 was a gala evening dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the theater. The evening's program included a historical digression, fragments of performances of the current repertoire,  Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia Alexander Zhuravsky, the grandchildren of V.I. Kachalov: professor, theater expert Alexei Bartoshevich and Maria Shverubovich came to congratulate one of the oldest theaters in Russia; Rector of the Theater School named after M.S. Shchepkin, Professor Boris Lyubimov, Director of the Vakhtangov Theater Kirill Krok, Artistic Director of the Meyerhold Center Viktor Ryzhakov and the Moscow Theater "July Ensemble", whose tour continued the anniversary events.

On March 22, on a big anniversary evening, the theater celebrated the 80th anniversary of its oldest artist, People's Artist of Russia and Tatarstan Vadim Keschner.

Tour

Traditional for Kachalov big tour  this season will be held in Kirov. From  June 13 to 26  on the stage of the Kirov theater drama kachalovtsers will play 14 performances.

Festivals

In April the theater became a participant of the International Festival of Russian Theaters of the CIS and Baltic countries "Meetings in Russia", annually held in St. Petersburg. On April 13, the performance "Mad Day, or The Marriage of Figaro", staged by Alexander Slavutsky, was successfully performed on the stage of the Petersburg Theater "Baltic House". And on July 2, the immortal comedy of Beaumarchais will be played by the Kachalovites in Moscow at the Festival of Provincial Theaters organized by the Stanislavsky International Foundation.

 Projects

The series of resonant non-commercial projects, launched  last season,  aimed at opening , direct contact with the spectator will be  continued. From October to April, within the framework of the project dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the theater, "Meetings at Kachalovsky. Dialogues about the theater ", nine meetings with the leading artists of the theater took place on the Small Stage, which became a sincere and frank conversation about the theater, about life, about the profession. And in April the Final readings of the All-Russian Contest of New Drama "Remarque" with the participation of leading specialists in the field of modern drama and theater took place on the Small Stage.

Rehearsals

Season Kachalovites finish rehearsals of the new play: Alexander Slavutsky in tandem with the actor Alexander Patrakov  are  working on Mikhail Bulgakov's play "Beg (Running)."
