26 May 2017, Friday

Dear workers of libraries!

I cordially congratulate you on the All-Russian Day of Libraries!

It is not only a professional holiday of book experts, bibliographers, librarians, it is a holiday of all those who love the Book.

The library is a special space of culture, the center of spiritual and cultural life, a witness of history. The development of reading and publishing, the improvement of the literary process and librarianship - all these issues always remain relevant for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation, and society as a whole.

Libraries of Tatarstan take an active part in a cultural life of the republic and keep pace with the times. The projects "Library at the Park", "The Big Book - Meetings in a Province", "Literary Courtyards", "The Cultural Diary of the Schoolboy", the contests "The Book of the Year", "The Most Reading Schoolboy" and many others  have  become the favorite actions by Tatarstan readers.

Today in the republic there are 1530 libraries, 3788 library workers carry out a noble mission of preserving a rich book fund and development of reading. Thanks to the program "Development of library business in the Republic of Tatarstan" libraries are equipped with new furniture and equipment, replenish library funds, introduce new technologies for working with readers. 90% of Tatarstan libraries now have Internet access. The National Electronic Library of the Republic of Tatarstan has over 4,400 digitized books available today to residents of even the most remote regions of Tatarstan.

Dear colleagues! Being guarantors of information competence, you carry to your readers high culture, respect for the Book and the desire for knowledge. I wish you new interesting ideas, rich book funds, grateful readers and confidence in the future. Strength  to you health, creative energy and new achievements in a noble profession!
