Mexico and the North American Indians

31 March 2017, Friday

April 1 at 2 pm,  at  the Exhibition Hall of the Elabuga State Museum-Reserve  two expositions open.

The first is "North American Indians. Myths and Reality "was created on the basis of the collection of the artist from Krasnodar Igor Gurov. It presents military and ritual clothing of various tribes of the late XIX - early XX centuries: male and female suits of suede and feathers, embroidered with needles and porcupines, children's toys and objects of shamanic cults. Visitors will also be able to see the horse equipment and the Indian dwelling "tipi".

The second exhibition "Mexico is far from next" will introduce Elabuzhanians  to the best creations of the weavers of this country from the collection of the attaché of the Embassy of Mexico in Russia, Jorge Reynoso Polens. Textile techniques that characterize the traditional Mexican style have been preserved through the painstaking work of artisans of numerous communities and small businesses practicing this ancient art.
