On April 17, 2017, the State Concert Hall named after S.Saidashev within the framework of the XVI Moscow Easter Festival will host the concerts by the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev. Kazan will be the first city in touring the festival, which opens on April 16, on the bright holiday of the Resurrection of Christ, at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. In the capital of Tatarstan the renowned collective will give 2 concerts, beginning at 15.00 and 19.00.
XVI Moscow Easter Festival will be held from April 16 to May 9, 2017, and dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. For 24 days concerts the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater under the direction of Valery Gergiev, as well as world-famous soloists and music groups will be held at the central concert venues of Moscow and Russian regions.
The program of the festival is divided into four thematic sections: symphonic, chamber, choral and ringing (bell), and also includes a series of charitable concerts on May 9, on Poklonnaya Hill, dedicated to the celebration of the Victory Day.
The festival has a wide geography - from Sochi to Vladivostok, including Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Denis Matsuev, Olga Borodina, Natalie Dessay. The leading role in the work of the Easter Festival is played by the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater under the direction of Maestro Gergiev.
