Republic Community has suffered an irreparable loss

Today, on  72-year of   life,  after a long illness, died Lena   Galimzyanovna  Shakirzyanova  (Lena Shagirzyan), the national poet of Tatarstan, essayist, translator, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, a laureate of the State Award  of the Republic of Tatarstan named after G.Tukai,  Kh. Taktash literary award.

Lena Shagirzyan - a versatile lyricist. In her works she  touched  global social and national problems. Poet has proved herself  as a fiery publicist. A great place in her work occupied the thoughts of the fate of the Motherland  and people,about   literature and art, critical notes, memories of her contemporaries.

The writer has always featured great responsibility, diligence, heartfelt  attitude toward people, endless dedication. The bright memory of a talented poet, translator, journalist and wonderful man will remain forever in our hearts.

Farewell to Lena Shakirzyanova will be held tomorrow at the Writers' Union of the Republic of Tatarstan (str. Mushtari, 14) at 10.00.

Lena Galimzyanovna Shakirzyanova born June 4, 1945,  in the village of Poisevo of the Aktanysh district of the Tatar ASSR in the teacher's family. Her childhood and school years were spent in the village of Malyie Ozyora of the  Arsk  of Tatarstan where in 1962  graduated from high school, in 1967 graduated from the Department of the Tatar language and literature Kazan State Pedagogical Iinstitute. In 1967-1968 - the teacher of the school № 80 of Kazan. In 1968-1973 years - the actress of Tatar state ensemble of songs and dances. In 1974 she  enters  the Radio of Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic to the post of translator. Since 1984 - member of the Union of writers of RT.
