October 8,  at 12.30pm,  at the exhibition hall of the Museum of History of Sviyazhsk, a  photo exhibition by Evegeni  Kanayev "The sound of the island" to be opened.

Evgeni Kanayav  (born in 1955) - a well-known photographer; Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, member of the Union of Photographers of Russia and the Russian Union of Journalists.

He  practiced   photography since his youth, was a member of the People's photo studio in Zelenodolsk, repeatedly published in the journal "Soviet Photo".

Since 1991 he worked as a photographer for the newspaper "Tatarstan Yashlere". From 2001 to the present time E.A.Kanaev - photographer of the press center of JSC "Tatenergo".

He participated in more than 150 photo exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Winner of awards and prizes of various national and international photo contests. In 2006, the album by  E. A. Kanayev "True-stories in pictures," which included his best black-and-white work was published.

Photos by  E.A. Kanayev are kept  in  photo galleries and private collections in Russia, USA, Canada, Australia, France, Turkey, Switzerland, et al., In the museums of Kazan, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod.

Sviyazhsk - one of the most important objects of art photographer. The exhibition includes about 90 black and white photographs by  Eugene Kanayev 1980s - 2000s.

His first acquaintance with the island occurred in childhood, has left a trace in the memory as a touch of something secret. Subsequently, becoming a professional photographer, he often returned to Sviyazhsk island experienced the attraction, and today remembers it  sunny and native.

Evegeni Kanayev writes in an author's text for the exhibition: "I, like many others, with a certain nostalgia and miss the old Sviyazhsk. That  authentic as  old Russian musical instruments. There was another sound, the other waves. No wonder it  attracted artists. It is hard to put into words. " However, the photographer pays tribute to the modern look of the island-town, wanting it  to find a new, modern, harmonious voice.

Photographs  by  Evegeni  Kanayev -  rivers,  banks, streets, houses, churches of Sviyazhsk, a statue of Lenin in the square, people, horses, dogs, cats .... the image of the   island-ark  is gradually  being created upon  careful viewing of the world, living its  inner life and sailing somewhere among the water and sky ...
