An American scientist has written a thesis on Tatar harmonics

November 17, 2015, at the Kazan State Conservatory. Named after N.G. Zhiganov, a special defense  of  master's thesis   was held. Significance of the  event not only in the fact that for the first time a scientific work on Tatar harmonica   was presented, but also the personality of the author. The work of "harmony in the traditional culture of the Kazan Tatars" wrote Paul Walter Kuyvinen - American scholar,  who learned specially  the Tatar language,  and went on an expedition to Arsky, Atninsky, Baltasinsky and Vysokogorsky rayons  of Tatarstan. P.Kuyvinen learned to play  seven kinds of folk harmonics created a new system of musical notation, developed an original method of teaching. One of the official opponents was Elmira Rinatovna Kayumova - Ph.D., a leading researcher at the National Centre for Development of Traditional Culture. According to her, the thesis  by  P.U.Kuyvinen has been  performed at a high professional level and is  a significant contribution to the folklore.
