Organizing Committee of the All-Russian contest "The reading region" announced the completion of the reception of entries

The contest "The reading region" for the title of "Literary flagship of Russia" is held among the subjects of the Russian Federation for the first time and is one of the key events for the Year of literature in our country. The initiative of the Russian Book Union, supported by the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications has found a broad response in the regions - their participation in the competition confirmed the 83 regions of the Russian Federation 85.

 This impressive figure speaks about one - project was timely and important undertaking: the regions need a contest, they show care for the development of a culture of reading and culture in general, and ready to show off their achievements. And to  show them how it turned out, there is something.

In  competitive bids the  regions presented a statistical quantitative data on the infrastructure of reading and books, a regional action plan for the Year of the literature as well as a presentation of the most significant literary projects implemented in the 2014-2015 biennium. The dispatched  materials have a number of unique projects (dedicated to books and reading, maintenance and revitalization of literary traditions of literary life, educational projects), which should be made public and available  for the professional community. Obviously, the competition "The reading region" finally gave the regions the opportunity to talk about their achievements throughout the country.

 Another reason for the success of the competition was that it  was the first to abandon the usual departmental verticals, and unified    the work of all structures of the professional community related to the book: librarians, publishers, employees of  literary museums, writers' community, representatives of bookselling networks, educators, which gave appropriate synergistic result.

 The results of the All-Russian contest "The reading region" will be announced in November and the awards ceremony will be held in Moscow in the framework of the exhibition NonFiction. The region, having  taken  the first place will be awarded the title of "The  Literary Flagship of Russia."
