Kazan will host the XI International Festival of Turkic poetry

October 1-4, Kazan holds the XI International Festival of Turkic poetry

Held every two years, this festival is one of the most consistent, extensive and effective measures in a literary life of the Turkic world.

For the first time this festival, organized by the Writers' Union of Turkey, opened in 1992 in the city of Bursa, which laid the foundation of the Ottoman Empire, and ended in the capital of the Seljuk Anatolian city of Konya.

During the 23 years what  only the  Turkic lands not visited the festival ?! With great success, it  was held in such countries as Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Cyprus, France, Crimea, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan.

The purpose of this event is, along with the reference to the works of poets  from  past centuries, bringing together contemporary masters of poetry,  and thus pave the way for promoting a new upsurge of the literary process.

At this year's festival, held in connection with the Year of Literature in the capital of Tatarstan in Kazan, it will be attended by about 100 poets from 25 countries. The winners of the poetry festival will be  awarded honorary literary awards named after G. Tukai, Rami Garipov and Sultan Suleiman.

The opening ceremony of the festival will be held on October 1 in the building of the Tatar State Theatre of Drama and Comedy named K.Tinchurin. Spectators will see performance poetry of  community representatives from different countries, a concert of masters of art of Tatarstan.

On October 2-3, the festival will continue in the Union of Writers of Tatarstan and the Consulate General of Turkey in Kazan. Lovers of literature here waiting  for "poetic season" in  salons named   after  Tukai,  Derdmenda, Hadi Taktash, Musa Jalil,  Hassan Tufan,  Gabderrahim Ibrahim,  Fatih Karim, Sultan Suleiman, Mahmut Akif Ersoy, Raşit Rahmati  Arat, scientific presentation of poetic works, polemical discussions about Turkic roots and relationships in the field of literature and social thought, master classes will be held.

October 4th, guests will go for  an unforgettable journey along the Volga River to  the ancient Bolgar, which we hope will be one of the most vivid impressions during this festival.
