Rustam Minnikhanov viewed objects of cultural heritage of republican value in the heart of Kazan

The object of the cultural heritage of republican importance – the Galeev mosque  has been   visited  by  Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan  Rustam Minnikhanov.

Currently,  restoration and construction works are under way.

We remind  that in 2014 it was decided to create a complex of residence of the Religious   Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan (DUM RT), which will include a building  of  the  Galeev mosque,  House of  M.I.  Galeev  and other objects.

Rustam Minnikhanov visited the building Galeev mosque, got acquainted with the work being done inside the building. He noted that funds have been allocated and requested to speed up the work on the project. According to Rustam Minnikhanov, the opening   the Galeev mosque may coincide with the celebration of Maoulida in December.

Further, Acting President of the Republic of Tajikistan visited the Galeev  House, which also is under construction and restoration work.  Facade works, setting  of window and door openings, wiring network engineering, roof mounting ,  bricklaying recreation  have been implemented on the object  

Total,  to carry out restoration works on the complex of  cultural heritage,  funds in the amount of more than 100 mln. rubles  have been channeled.

Rustam Minnikhanov was accompanied by  chief mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Hazrat.

The next object visited by Rustam Minnikhanov was  the Church of   Descent of the Holy Spirit - the object of cultural heritage of republican value.

Rustam Minnikhanov met Tatarstan and Kazan Metropolitan Theophane.

We remind  that until recently, the building housed a children's puppet theater. In May 2012, the building was handed over to the gratuitous use of the Kazan diocese,   senior priest archpriest Alexei Chubakov was appointed. Already in July 2012 as part of exploring the historic center of Kazan  the temple   was visited  by  Rustam Minnikhanov. As a result of the inspection of the object, it was decided on  state facilitating  of  the repair works.

For these purposes it has been allocated more than 100 mln. rubles.

Rustam Minnikhanov visited the educational institution "Orthodox Gymnasium named after St. Gury of Kazan", which is next to the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit.  Gymnasium    space is 960 square meters. m., 34 children are studying, learning is carried out on a fee basis to the fourth grade, also, a group of preschool children is active  in preparation for school.

Rustam Minnikhanov told about plans for the development and expansion of the Orthodox Church gymnasium in the complex of the descent of the Holy Spirit.

The Galeev mosque was built in 1798 at the expense of Mamyash Musa, who comes from the village of Serda (now Sabinsky region of RT). It is  named as the fifth cathedral mosque and the mosque of Musa bai. In 1930 the mosque was closed,  minaret dismantled. The building was used as a hotel. In 1997 the building was returned to believers.

Two-altar  stone church "Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit" was built in Sukkony  settlement in 1731-1735-ies at the expense of the widow, who   kept a cloth manufacture  of  I.A. Mikhlyaev - Evdokia Mikhlyaeva. The temple was one of the most crowded in Kazan (up to four thousand believers). After the revolution  the bell tower of the church and chapel  were destroyed. In Soviet times,  in the building of  church  a children's puppet theater was located.
