International experts to discuss historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of Sviyazhsk

July 15-16,  in Kazan,   the International Congress "Historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of Sviyazhsk" takes place. 

Organizers: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republican fund for revival of historical and cultural monuments of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan Federal University, Kazan State University of Culture and Arts, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, History, Architecture and Art Museum "The Island of Sviyazhsk" - with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The event  will bring together around 100 experts from Russia, Belarus, Germany, Greece, Sweden, Armenia, Mongolia. Among them are representatives of the authorities, Russian and foreign specialists, experts in the field of research, preservation and restoration of historical and cultural monuments, medieval monumental painting and iconography, scientists of academic institutions and universities, employees of museums, archives and other institutions of science, education and culture, Russian Orthodox Church, non-governmental and public organizations.

The purpose of the congress:  study of the historical, architectural and spiritual heritage of  Sviyazhsk and development of approaches to conservation, restoration, management and promotion of cultural heritage,  definition of the outstanding universal value of the Assumption Cathedral and Trinity Church of  Sviyazhsk. The congress will discuss the Russian and foreign experience in the study and preservation of historical and cultural monuments.
