Today, Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, laid flowers at the monument to the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin in the framework of the celebrations of the Day of the Russian language.
The holiday was established by the United Nations in 2010 and is celebrated on the birthday of Alexander Pushkin. In Russia, celebration of the Russian language was established by Presidential Decree of June 6, 2011.
Kazan, in honor of the Russian language at the monument to Pushkin near the M. Jalil Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre a poetic rally took place. Welcoming remarks were made by First Deputy Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Irada Aiupova, deputy chairman of the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan Irina Alexandrovskaya, the national poet of Tatarstan Renat Haris, head of the section of Russian literature and literary translation of the Union of Writers of Tatarstan Lilia Gazizova and others. Poems and songs were performed by culture and art of Tatarstan V.Vasilyev, A.Kashina, B.Vayner, O.Levadnaya, M.Tuzov, N.Akhunova and others.
The folk ensembles "Krasnaya Gorka", "Mlada", "Obereg" performed likewise. After this, a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument to Alexander Pushkin with Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took place.
