The house-museum of V.I. Lenin once again is open to visitors

20 May 2015, Wednesday

May 22, at 13.00,  after the reconstruction of the house-museum  of V.I.  Lenin,  the presentation of the new exhibition is to be held.

The polarization of public opinion about the individual and the historical role of V.I.  Lenin created a biased attitude toward Lenin museums that have become "hostages" of the change of eras, politics and ideology. Many of them have been closed or redeveloped. The house-museum V.I.  of Lenin  in  Kazan - one of the few who was not only saved, but also went through a large-scale renovation and   has   re-opened to visitors.

Museum - one of the oldest in Kazan (founded in 1937) - is a significant cultural object,  depicting the memory of one of the world's major political leaders of the twentieth century in the period of his youth. Reconstruction, which lasted four years, has helped to keep a wonderful corner of old Kazan: wooden pattern  of the  urban estate of the second half of the XIX century, where a two-story wing of the   Orlova’s manor  from September 1888 to the beginning of May 1889 the Ulyanovs family lived.

As a result, phased restoration works were and major repair (memorial) of the museum were carried out;  annexe of the Soviet period was extended,  the surrounding area landscaped; a new exhibition was created  with the preservation of the memorial of  environment  and the use of modern technologies  .

For the first time in many years, the activities of the museum were  carried out   on the restoration of museum exhibits, which gave them a second life, and helped to keep the amazing atmosphere of the memorial rooms.

The interiors, created in Soviet times based on the memories of relatives, were  complemented by new items of the  epoch, allowing better to  imagine life as an example of the Ulyanovs family culture of the nineteenth centuryof   Russian intelligentsia.

Thanks to research,   a new historical and biographical exhibition includes little-known to a wide range   documents and information on the family connections and the near surroundings  the Ulyanovs in Kazan, the events of the student gatherings on  December 4, 1887, to perpetuate the memory of V.I. Lenin of Tatarstan.

The museum has created an electronic exhibition thematically complementary spatial sections and complex that includes sensory booths, photo frames and electronic installations.

The ceremony will be attended by Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan RN Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, head of the Communist Party faction in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation G.A. Zyuganov, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan A.M. Sibagatullin, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan I.E. Faizullin, Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, V.A. Leonov, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on  Tourism S.E. Ivanov and other officials, representatives of cultural and museum community of Kazan.

We hope that interest in the fate of the world's largest political leader of the twentieth century will make the house-museum of V.I. Lenin one of the brands of Kazan, Tatarstan,  broaden the appeal for tourists and abroad, and especially for  "red tourism"  by  visitors from countries of socialist orientation.
