Message from the Minister of Culture of Tatarstan A.M. Sibagatullin  in connection with the International Day of Theatre

Dear friends! 

I heartily congratulate you on the International Day of Theatre – a professional holiday masters of the stage and all  the  employees of the theater. It is also a celebration of millions of viewers in love with the theater, and able to appreciate the subtleties of acting and thoughtful directorial work.

The motto of this festival - "Theatre as a means of understanding and peace between  peoples" - fully comply with the specifics of theater art in the Republic of Tatarstan, where it  successfully operates and interacts  with representatives of various theater schools, gets creative development of the best traditions of dramatic, musical and children's theater.

Kazan is known as one of the theater capitals of Eurasia,  "Hostess of F.I. Shalyapin   opera festival, the   R. Nuriev festival of classical ballet, International Theatre Festival of Turkic peoples "Nowruz". Along with the classical repertoire, the  theaters Tatarstan delight spectators by  experimental productions, actively try out new theatrical forms. This is facilitated by holding  creative workshops and educational forums with the participation of pedagogues from  international theater centers. School of excellence for theater figures are also the National Festival of young Tatar directing "Remeslo (Craft)",   director’s laboratory "Free Stage", a  contest "New Tatar play."

Recognition of the high professional level of our theaters is their successful participation in national and international festivals, such as the X International   Shanghai Festival of Contemporary Theatre,  International Festival of Russian theater "Friendship Bridge", the International Festival - a forum of national theaters "Altan serge»,   the IX International Festival Forum "Territory". We are proud to state that the productions  by  Tatarstan collectives are invariably popular and love of the audience far beyond our republic.

I am sure that your constant creative search will also go ahead     to the preservation and enhancement of the best theatrical tradition, the further development of the performing arts in our country. I sincerely wish you to conquer new creative heights, good health and prosperity!
