National Festival of cello music named after Mstislav Rostropovich held in Kazan

February 14, at the Children's Music School №5 of Kazan a Republican festival of cello music named after Mstislav Rostropovich was held.

The founders of the competition are: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatartsan  and the Republican Methodological Centre for  educational institutions of culture and art. Author of the project - Honored Artist of the Republic of Tajikistan Larisa Maslova.

Selection for participation in the festival was   held by leading teachers of the Kazan Music College named after I.V.Aukhadeev a and Kazan State Conservatory named N.G.Zhiganov. 45 cellists from the cities and regions of the Republic of Tatarstan: Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Zainsk, Almetyevsk, Nizhnekamsk, Yelabuga and others took part in the festival.

The Republican festival of young cellists has been held   since 2008 in the city of Kazan, and dedicated to the memory of outstanding musician, conductor and pedagoguer of XX century Mstislav Rostropovich (1927-2007), who made an invaluable contribution to the global performance culture.

The festival is held with the aim of familiarizing children and adolescents to world music, to identify the most talented and promising artists - students of children's music and art schools, improving performance skills and promulgation   of string instruments. From this year the festival has acquired the status of the Republican festival.
