The organ in Kazan has been sounding for more than a hundred years. The first concerts were held back in 1886 at the Lutheran Church. In the early twentieth century, the Czech instrument was lost, and only in 1972 in Kazan Conservatory thanks to the efforts of the first rector Nazib Zhiganov a large concert organ «Rieger-Kloss» appeared. In the same year class of organ opened.
Soon another organ decorated chamber hall of the Conservatory, and in 1997 at the State Big Concert Hall after S. Saidash the largest organ of the company «Flentrop» was installed.
In 1998, the Chair of the organ and harpsichord opened, headed by the current rector of the Kazan Conservatory, People's Artist of Russia, Professor Rubin Abdullin. Largely, due to his efforts, Kazan became has become one of the centers of organ art in Russia.
Each month concerts of organ music within the project "Music of cathedrals of the world" are held, and in a few days in our city the best performers in Europe get together.
October 26-30, the II International Competition concert of organists takes place The first such competition was held in Kazan in 2008.
The jury includes well-known musicians, concert organists teaching in higher music education institutions in Russia, France, Austria, Germany: Rubin Abdullin , professor of the Higher School of Music from Lyubeck Sergei Cherepanov, pedagogue from Paris Conservatory Thierry Escaich , Professor of St. Petersburg State University Alexei Panov, organist form St. Florian Monastery in Linz, Vienna University of Music pedagogue Matthias Giesen.
Preliminary audition passed through videos submitted by the participants of the competition. Of the twelve organists in the final competition to be attended by six musicians from Kazan, St. Petersburg, Yoshkar-Ola, Nizhny Tagil and Lyubeck. Concerts-finals will take place at the State Big Concert Hall after S.Saydash October 27 from 18:30 and October 28 October at 15:00. To get to the auditions is possible for anyone.
October 28, a solo organ program is presented by one of the jury members Thierry Escaich. Also, as part of the contest, master classes by Matthias Gizena and Sergei Cherepanov will be held.
The awards ceremony and gala concert of laureates and winners will take place on October 30 at the S. Saidash SGCH.
