A large-scale exhibition "TASMA. Kazan Photo Group "is a part of the project" History is written by lens. Lens looks at us " implemented thanks to the support of the President of the Russian Federation. It assumes demonstrating exhibitions in other cities of Russia and abroad, as well as release of the first general publication on history and work of the Kazan Photo Group "Tasma".
The initiative for this project comes from the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, in the halls of which photos more than once were exhibited as an independent art, where the exhibitions of Kazan photographers were held. Among them were displays of a legendary photo group "Tasma. "Tasma" was born as a creative union in the mid-1970s in the wake of opposition to the official salon and photography, and valued its own language in the photographs, its ability to go directly to life.
Photo-journalism, which from a creative way of the tasmavters commenced, Kazan became the basis of the photographic school of 70-90 years of XX century. But creativity of the "Tasma" was not confined within socio-critical reporting, which has become an invaluable document of the era. Deeply personal relationship to the environment, compassion for the most usual contemporary photographers allowed "Tasma" to create a vibrant and coherent picture of life, to convey the feeling and atmosphere of 70-80 years, to create a portrait of its time, became their general self-portrait.
These qualities have helped place "Tasma" as a group and enter the history of modern photography. This is evidenced by their participation in a variety of national and international exhibitions, including at the highest level, as well as a number of publications and albums published in Russia and abroad.
The exhibition includes more than two hundred works representing creativity of all 22 members of photo group: Vladimir Bogdanov, organizer of "Tasma" having done much for determining its orientation and identity, Boris Davydov, Alexander Tambulov (Greka), Lyalya Kuznetsova, Vladimir Zotov, Vladimir Razumeychenko, Vadim Nikiforov, Rif Yakupov, Edward Khakimov, Valery Mikhailov, Rustam Mukhametzyanov, Albert Bagautdinov, Zufar Bashirov, Farid Gubaev, Yuri Filimonov, Yuri Fedotov, Vasily Martínkov, Shamil Bashirov, Valery Pavlov, Sergey Svintsov, Evgeni Balashov, Vitaly Khashev.
