Center "Hermitage-Kazan" opens exhibition "Ninety-nine names of God. Classical art of the Islamic world of IX-XIX centuries from the collection of Marjani"

September 4, at 16:00 pm,  an  exhibition "Ninety-nine names of God opens. Classical art of the Islamic world IX-XIX centuries from the collection of Marjani "at the Center "Hermitage-Kazan."  

Specially for the exhibition in Kazan, the Support Fund and cultural programs named after S. Mardzhani ha selected 99 masterpieces of world importance. They speak about the fact that items of Muslim artisans along the Silk Road  were  penetrating   hinterlands  of Eurasia, and  were popular among  local elite and won for the Islamic art a world fame.

Among them, unique exhibits presented for the first time. For example, bocca (​​Mongolian headdress of  married women) from gold-brocaded  silk on a frame made ​​of birch bark, made at the end of XIII-XIV centuries. Here  also  the belt set is presented, consisting of 27 items, made in China at the end of the XV century and  beginning IV centuries, and having appeared   thanks to the Mongols  in the Middle East. Experts recognize this belt the earliest Chinese item  in cloisonné enamel, known to date.

The exhibition brings together works by masters of North Africa, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Central Asia and Asia Minor, - a two-layer and carved glass, painting on metal, ceramic bowls with images of people and animals, calligraphic inscriptions, bronze censers, sheets of  Korans and other artifacts.

Manuscripts luxuriously decorated with exquisite miniatures, an Iranian prayer rug mid of XVI century, on which ninety nine names of God are woven, complement a diverse collection of the Fund.

The exhibition invites you to join a sublime harmony, the main purpose of which is love for God. Language of Beauty understandable to all people and serves as a bridge for mutual understanding of peoples and cultures.
