At the invitation of the head of the Foundation "Magyar-Turan" Mr. Andras Biro (Hungary) from August 5 to 16, 2014, the delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan takes part in the Big V Congress of Turkic peoples in Bugats (Hungary).
The delegation consists of head of the Department of Ethnology Institute of History named after Sh.Mardzhani, RT Academy of Sciences Gulnara Gabdrakhmanova, Senior Fellow for the Study of History and Culture of Tatars Kryashens (Nagaibaks) at the Institute of History n.a. Sh.Mardzhani Tatarstan Academy of Sciences Radik Iskhakov, chief curator of the funds of the National Centre for the Development of Traditional Culture Ilmira Khusnullina, a member of the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Tatarstan Raisa Safiullina and folklore ensemble "Zhanashym" regional town Aznakaevo’s Palace of culture.
Kurultaj has been held since 2007, once every two years with the support of the Vice-President of the Parliament of Hungary Shándor Lejak , who is in charge of cultural policy in Europe and Asia. From year to year, Kurultaj gathers representatives of more than a dozen countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, China (Uighuria), Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia (Bashkortostan and Tatarstan), Moldova (Gagauzia) and Bulgaria. In 2010, the event was attended by 150,000 visitors, in 2012 - more than 250 thousand people.
Kurultaj provides a unique opportunity to present Tatar culture to a wide world community. The participation of scientists, specialists in folklore, creative teams of the Republic of Tatarstan in the activities of Kurultaj, undoubtedly, contributes to the further integration of the Republic in common Turkic cultural space.
