Tatarstan President has met with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Russia

Today   RT President  Rustam Minnikhanov   has net with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Russia Udayanga Weeratunga.  During the meeting in Kazan Kremlin, which  was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov, Aide  to the President on international issues Radik Gimatdinov, RT  Culture Minister Airat Sibagatullin, Chairman of    RT State Committee for Tourism  Sergei Ivanov .

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka, together with representatives of tourism companies   is committing cultural and tourist tour to cities in Russia for acquaintance r Russians  with Sri Lanka. Welcoming today Udayanga Weeratunga, Tatarstan President thanked the Ambassador for the fact that the list of cities included a tour of Kazan also.

"I think that for the residents of the republic will be interesting to get to know your country " - said R.Minnikhanov .

He noted that trade and economic relations of Tatarstan and Sri Lanka are still poorly developed , and the Ambassador's visit could trigger their development. "We would like to make our company to promote their products on the market in your country, and you also have products that would have been interesting to us – addressed  Rustam  Minnikhanov  to  Ambassador of  Sri Lanka. - You are a major producer of tea and textiles."

Tatarstan President proposed to intensify also  educational cooperation , inviting students from Sri Lanka to study in Kazan.

"I am confident that our range of interests within the relations between our countries are very wide , - President of Tatarstan  stated. - We need to better understand each other's capabilities."

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Russia Udayanga Weeratunga said that the country is well known and well proven products Kazan helicopter plant , also in Sri Lanka may be interested in the products of other enterprises.

The ambassador said that the producers of tea from Sri Lanka are now planning to build a factory  of tea packing  in Russia, since taxes on the import of bulk tea is lower than for tea in retail packaging , and Russia itself is the largest consumer of tea from Ceylon.

President  R. Minnikhanov proposed to build a factory for packaging tea in Tatarstan,  and promised to provide all necessary support .

At the end of the meeting the Ambassador invited the President of Tatarstan to visit Sri Lanka and R.Minnikhanov  wished  Udayanga Weeratunga a  successful visit  in  Tatarstan.
