May 12, at 3.00 pm, at the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, within the Forum of the Orthodox public of the Republic of Tatarstan, the exhibition " Rarities of Orthodox culture: from the collection of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan" is due to open.
The collection of Orthodox monuments of history and culture has been evolving throughout the history of the National Museum of Tatarstan, it includes icons, church utensils, sacred vessels, vestments of priests, monuments of pictorial and ornamental embroidery, documents and books as of XV - beginning of XX centuries.
The exhibition consists of several thematic sections, showing the diversity of the world of objects, and representing the most significant museum collections on history and culture of Orthodoxy. Much of the items will be on display for the first time.
Rare artifacts and relics related to the history of the Kazan diocese ( established in 1555 ), Cathedral of the Annunciation , the life and work of Kazan bishops of XVI - XVII centuries will be presented. These are icons with the image of the first sanctifiers - Archbishop Gury and Herman, Bishop Varsonofy; miter of St. Herman, sakkos of Metropolitan Lavrenti of XVIIc. Decorated in the art of embroideries books: The Gospel of Tver ( 1478g. ) - the earliest monument to orthodox book culture in the museum's collection ; Gospel of Ephrem, year 1606. - The contribution of Metropolitan Ephrem , who participated in the wedding of Mikhail Romanov; Gospel 1682 . in precious frame, year 1692 . - The gift of Patriarch Adrian, etc.
A prominent place at the exhibition will take the exhibits related to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. Among them - the unique works of the last third of the XVI century: the shroud to the icon , the book "Service to founding of Kazan Icon of the Mother of God " - a collection , part of which was published in Kazan by anonymous publishing.
The materials relating to the most famous monasteries in Kazan and Kazan region: vintage images of monasteries, books and objects of monastic assembly; vestment of hermit monk , chains, wooden cross carved on gravestone as of early XIX century, on cemetery of Zilant Assumption Monastery will be on display.
The exposition will include complexes of valuable monuments of religious art – icons of XVII - XVIII centuries, works of pictorial and ornamental embroidery of XVI - XVIII centuries, performed in Kazan and Stroganov workshops, silverware of XVI - XIX centuries. - Sacred vessels for sacrament of Communion ( chalices, patens , zvezdica , pixes ), altar crosses , miniature icons of panagia, church utensils ( ladannitsy , censer), etc.
The exposition is designed for a wide range of visitors. Target categories are students of secondary and higher education institutions , students of Kazan Theological Seminary, Sunday school pupils . On the basis of the exhibition, a complex cultural and educational program, which includes a tour of the exhibition , a series of lectures , themed events with museum professionals , scientists, representatives of Kazan Orthodox communities ; performances of church choirs , etc will be implemented.
